BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is meeting a unique demand in the health plan national employer space by building a portfolio that addresses the whole person and provides solutions that are flexible for the employers they serve. They have above average utilization and with their innovative strategy were among the first to forge the virtual primary care path for blues plans.
EmblemHealth
EmblemHealth has always placed importance on treating the whole person. Since 2018, they have steadily expanded virtual care access to new populations and grown utilization year over year. EmblemHealth continues to innovate and expand access to care. Most recently, they have introduced Primary Care for both EmblemHealth employees and small group and exchange members in Connecticut. As part of this addition, members will have access to General Medicine, Mental Health and Dermatology. UMR was an early adopter of telehealth services and regularly adds more services because of their focus on delivering solutions that meet their clients’ goals and strategies. UMR now supplies Teladoc Health services to more than 2,500 ASO clients with over 3 million UMR members.

Saint Luke’s Health System, located in Kansas City, Missouri provides inpatient virtual care in 33 patient rooms within their medical observation unit. By leveraging EPiC Monitor and TV Pro+ units, they’re one of the first hospitals in the country to use virtual nursing to address hospital staffing innovation. Through their virtual nursing program, Saint Luke’s has seen improved patient feedback and nurse collaboration while simultaneously increasing efficiency and creating new opportunities for their staff.

In Germany, over 2.2 million people are treated in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) annually. The Enhanced Recovery after Intensive Care (ERIC) program aims to increase the adherence to evidence based medicine through a telemedical connection to a Tele-ICU. Charite has effectively used telemedical rounds to significantly improve adherence to the examined quality domains.Health Equity

PM Pediatric Care
PM Pediatric Care serves a diverse population of patients ages 0-26 in 15 states and Washington, DC. With the launch of their virtual program in 2019, and its significant expansion in 2020, the location of their patient population has expanded. It now includes not only urban and suburban areas, but also rural areas, such as remote areas in Alaska, where access to care is a challenge. In 2021, PM Pediatric Care recognized the growing mental health crisis and launched pediatrics and adolescent telemedicine behavioral health services in their states. In 2022, PM Pediatric Care launched its School Health program by providing services to the Clark County Nevada School District, a public school system where access to pediatric care poses a significant challenge. Over the past several years, PM Pediatric Care has enabled >300,000 pediatric telemedicine visits.
Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma
The dedication of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma to improving the lives of their members is inspiring and infectious. In the first year of providing Chronic Condition Management to its population, the Nation has seen 40% of enrollment and, among that population, 80% is enrolled in multiple programs, promising enhanced outcomes.

3M is committed to serving all its employees through a broad accelerated virtual care strategy. Through their chronic condition management program, they are seeing an average 1.3% reduction in A1C. They have recognized the need to bridge a solution for mental health to their robust EAP program. Dr. Sadhna Paralkar
Senior Vice President & National Medical Director
Dr. Sadhna Paralkar is a senior vice president and national medical director for Segal with 25 years of experience. Dr. Paralkar leads Segal’s Medical Management consulting and has specialized expertise in on-site clinics, wellness programs, medical management program design, health care informatics, network management strategies to optimize health improvement while containing costs, and evaluation and implementation of disease management and wellness programs. Early in her career, Dr. Paralkar was often the only woman and the only person of color in the room. To recruit and retain more women in the workforce, she worked with HR at a previous employer to develop a networking program for women that grew into a formal mentorship program. At Segal, she is part of a formal mentoring program. She regularly mentors women with a clear set of principles in mind, which not only helps the mentees, but has helped her become a more well-rounded leader.
